The following instructions will help you in the process of washing, drying and storing your alpaca product from Little Blessings Fiber Farm

There are 2 ways of washing your alpaca products; Hand washing or Dry cleaning, (we do not recommend the use of a washing machine). Most products require only hand washing. However, we do recommend that at least once per year or after several hand washings your alpaca product be dry cleaned. Specialty items such as structured coats, finely woven items and accessories should be dry cleaned only

HAND WASHING:

• Use cool water (85f / 196c) and a mild soap with no fragrances

• Never use chlorine bleach. Woolite is NOT recommended

• Remove excess water carefully. Avoid any wringing or twisting

• Reshape and Lay flat to dry. Dry he product in the shade. Avoid drying product in direct sun

• After the product has dried, touch p with a very cool iron as needed.

DRY CLEANING:

• If you have several items or outfits, we recommend that you clean them at the same time to avoid dissimilar color fading after the cleaning process

• Inform the cleaner of any spot or stains

• Ask the cleaner to use a Fresh Solvent in  LOW HEAT and a process that does not involve tumbling

• It is recommended that you go to a dry cleaner that has previous experience alpaca products

STORING and PRESERVING your alpaca product:

• Before storing, make sure our product is clean and fully dry

• There are many methods to avoid moth damage such as a sealed cedar chest, vacuum packing, freezer (in a sealed bag)

• Sachets using dried Lavender are also useful

• We do NOT recommend the use of mothballs
